At one time this would have been one of the busiest parts of Bristol Docks and even now you can get a sense of all that maritime activity - with the great cranes that are still standing at the waterside and the massive sheds once used to store goods.  I really enjoyed making this painting as it reminded me in many ways of my early years painting in Hull where I would spend hours just mooching around the docks there and sketching the old boats and warehouses.
