The Clifton Suspension Bridge - Bristol
The Clifton Suspension Bridge - Bristol
£80.00
This slender thread of a bridge across the Avon Gorge must rank as one of the most beautiful feats of engineering in Britain and it a great tribute to Brunel that is still working perfectly well over 150 years after it was opened in 1864. I have painted it with the great towers silhouetted against the evening sky and the water below it, calm and moving only slowly. I wonder just how many sailors have marked their home coming by passing beneath it.
