This is one of my favourite views of the North Cornwall Coast and I return to it often. When the tide is out it combines a beautiful open expanse of sand with its ever changing patterns and the rugged charm of deeply shadowed cliffs. In this painting I have carefully picked out the sunlit roofs of Padstow to emphasise the strong sunlight and included several distant sails to hint as all the summer activity going on in the estuary.
