I painted this at the hight of the summer, towards the end of August, sitting on the beach at Treyarnon, or at least I started sitting but soon had to stand to look over the windbreaks as always. Crowded though the picture might look I can assure you I have edited out most of the people on the beach. The title of the picture was inspired by the two young lads who spent much of the day beavering away trying to stop the river that flows across the beach and they were still at it when I decided to head for home. Oh, for the joys of childhood.
