I painted this on a lovely sunny day in early summer and made the reflection an important part of the painting, with Madrips Rock forming the main anchor. The turquoise colour in the sea is generated by the clear shallow water allowing the almost white sand to mix optically with the blue reflected sky and its one of the Cornish coast’s great charms.
