This is another of my ‘cloud’ paintings. Once I have set up camp for the day to paint, I have to make a choice about the format of the paper I will use. This is a ‘square’ format with plenty of room for my sky and a relatively narrow band for the beach. I took great care in painting the clouds, which was quite a challenge, as the way I paint necessitates leaving the white paper for my ‘whites’ so the blue sky has to be painted ‘around’ each ‘white’ in the painting. Some people refer to this as ‘painting backwards’.
