Sitting for hours at a time watching the tide move the sea across the sand and the shadows move slowly across the cliffs, it is easy to overlook the tiny dramas that are happening at a completely different pace, on a completely different scale. My guess is that this child will remember seeing the sea for the first time, I certainly do and the sense of its vastness has never left me.
