Having painted quite a bit around Daymer Bay for many summers, I have grown very used to the rhythms of the day. Mid-morning, my peace is often shattered by the speed boats leaving Padstow, full of screaming tourists. Later, the far more sedate Jubilee Queen chugs by and if the wind is right, I can hear the guide telling everyone about the doom bar and the ships that have gone aground there.
