Just before the river Avon reaches the sea it makes a long meandering sweep around the back of the sand dunes, that shelter a few houses from the winter storms. Jenkins Quay, the thatched building in the distance was built on the site of the old ferry keeper’s cottage and must be one of the most beautifully situated buildings in South Devon.
